Leafy greens, beetroot, carrots, lemon, cucumber, grapefruit, and ginger are all great for cleansing the liver.


  • 4 medium carrots, scrubbed
  • 2 handfuls baby spinach
  • 1 medium red beet
  • 1 English cucumber
  • 1 green apple, cored
  • 1 lemon, rind removed
  • 1-inch piece ginger root, plus more to taste

Push the ingredients through your juicer, and consume whole or strain through a fine mesh sieve.

Another great recipe is full of all of the nutrients your body needs, as well as being a great juice for your detox.

You’ll need:

  • 1 large cucumber
  • 2 heads romaine lettuce
  • 2 nectarines
  • 2 med lemons (skin peeled)
  • 3 clementines (skin peeled)
  • 5 kale stems
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 inch knob of ginger


The most important thing to avoid if your liver is not in a healthy place is SODIUM, sodium (salt is a killer, it’s as simple as that) your maximum daily intake of sodium should be between 1,500 and 2,000 milligrams, no more.

• 2 oranges, peeled
• 1/2 rib celery
• 1 lemon, peeled
• 1/2 cup dandelion greens (or other bitter green)
• 1/2 cup parsley
Directions: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

You should do this for a minimum of 2 weeks, which I know it sounds boring, which is why there are 3 recipes. So you can alternate them on different days.
If you are like me, then you will start well, for the first couple of days you will make your own juice, keep it refrigerated, take some to work etc.
But then the juicer will end up in a cupboard under the stairs, never to be seen again.
But if you are serious (and you should be) about detoxing your liver then try some of these detox teas. With the tea’s you should follow the guidelines on the packaging, and eat lightly. And continue with the foods in each group listed above.
